Trimming the Tree

So we are doing Christmas at our house this year. We normally do it at my in-laws, but with the two kids it is easier if my in-laws come here rather then us go over there. This means we need a tree. We had a fake tree when we lived in Atlanta, but I didn’t pack it when we moved up, since I am not a huge Christmas person, being Jewish and all, and we would celebrating at my in-laws anyways. So we haven’t had a tree since we moved up, actually I am pretty sure we haven’t had a tree since either 1999 or 2000, I am almost positive we didn’t put up the one we had in 2001.

So a few weeks ago, before Thanksgiving actually we picked up a fake tree from Target. We decided fake was safer with the two small ones, and less expensive in the long run. It was a fairly inexpensive tree, and it was on sale. We also picked up some ornaments. We had some left from when we last did a tree, but I couldn’t remember how many or if they were child safe, so we’ve been picking up child safe ornaments for our tree. We also picked up 3 strands of different color lights.

With the snow this weekend and it being less then a week to Christmas we decided to set up the tree today.

First we took it out of the box. Desmond decided the box was the best toy ever!

Eloise had to make sure she checked out the ornaments Nonnie (my Mom) made years ago when I was young. She quite liked them.

Desmond was quite happy to help us hang up the ornaments. He liked deciding where to hang them. Though most of his ended up in the same general place.

Eloise had some help hanging her ornaments

Here is the tree mostly done. We added a few more ornaments after this picture and moved a few around. We still need to get another thing of lights, but it is basically done now.

After we got in from playing in the snow Eloise decided to explore the tree and ornaments just a bit more.

And I just like her expression in this picture

Boxes are always the best toy. Isn’t that why we buy things so the kids can play with the boxes?!
