Now on the small screen

Thursday, September 10th, 2009

I took a couple of videos of the small ones yesterday afternoon. There were also a few videos from earlier this week and last week on the video camera, so Dan downloaded and converted all the videos for me last night. This morning I uploaded them to youtube so that I could post them here at nap time. Since it is now nap time, at least for the boy child, I have a few moments and I can post the videos. First off we’ll start with the ones from a few days ago.

Here is Desmond playing with his kitchen and trying to break his toy egg, it actually is two pieces velcroed together so it does come apart, but he isn’t great at getting it apart yet.

Next is Eloise standing up all by her self holding onto the toy area.

And last is Desmond giving Eloise a hug!

Some new playground pictures

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

We went to the big playground twice this weekend, once on Sunday and once on Monday. On Sunday we also went to the pool, since the outdoor pool closed on Monday and we’re back inside now. We didn’t go on Monday because it was too cold to swim. I brought my camera along on both playground days and got a bunch of pictures of Desmond playing. Dan also got a few of Eloise. So here is Desmond at the playground on Sunday.

Wearing two

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

So earlier today I was going to put Eloise on my back so she could nap. However Desmond saw the carrier and insisted that he needed to be carried in it. Rather then deal with a tantrum and other assorted two year old behaviors, I decided to wear him on my back. I still needed to wear Eloise though since she still needed her nap and wasn’t going down nursing or any other way. So since I had a Mei Tai and Dan’s Calyx in the living room I decided to put her on my front. It was actually surprisingly comfortable to carry both of them and the 45 pounds of them was well distributed and didn’t bother me at all. Desmond eventually decided to go down after about an hour, but I have to say it was remarkably easier then I was expecting to carry them both and it worked well, Eloise got her nap and Desmond got his snuggle time on my back and didn’t feel left out.

I took a few pictures, but since I had to do them in the bathroom so I could get our reflection in the mirror, they didn’t turn out well in color, they work okay in black and white though so I’ll post them. I was just wearing a tank top since I figured two on me was going to be a bit toasty and I was right.

Overall, it was an experiment that worked out and I’ll do again, if I need to carry Eloise for her nap and Desmond wants up as well. I am really glad we had decent carriers I could do this with.

Just a quick shot

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

I have this one photo that doesn’t really go anywhere else, so I am giving it a post all its own. Here is Desmond drawing on his chalkboard wall. I am now semi caught up in pictures, though not for long, I have a bunch to edit from this weekend and post now. I am caught up through around Friday though.

Painting with a paintbrush or 8

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

So Desmond loves to paint, he isn’t as thrilled about getting paint on his hands though. So I decided to let him try painting with paintbrushes instead. He loved this, he did use his hands occasionally, but he really enjoyed the fact that he could paint without getting his hands messy. He had a ton of fun with this activity. I gave him a bunch of different sized paint brushes to use and a couple of sponge brushes he really liked seeing the different things he could do with the different brushes.

A couple more random basement pictures

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Here are the rest of the basement pictures from the set I have just been posting. They don’t fit in any of the other categories so they get their own random post.

First off here is Desmond using his banana as a phone!

Next we have Eloise crawling

Eloise standing and eating a table

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Eloise is getting pretty good at standing holding onto things. She will occasionally think she can stand without holding on, which she isn’t quite up to yet, but she is quite good at holding herself up and holding onto something. These are pictures of her holding onto the new table and eating it.

What is she doing? Oh I can do that too!

Oh hi Daddy I like this table, it is quite tasty!

Desmond Playing and Showing off his Kitchen

Tuesday, September 8th, 2009

Here is Desmond playing and showing off his new kitchen from IKEA. It is great it keeps him entertained for 15 to 30 minutes at a time and he has used it every day since we got it. He loves his kitchen. He has actually taken to taking out the sink, dumping all the kitchen items through and putting it back in when we tell him it is time to clean up his kitchen. I figure it works well enough for now, and it is always amusing to see.

Making Faces

Monday, September 7th, 2009

Another activity Desmond and I did last week was making faces. I found foam circles and we added eyes, bells and pompoms to make faces. My face looked far more face like then his, but then again I am 31 and he is 2, so if he wants his face to have 6 eyes and pompoms all over rather then in a mouth shape, that is great! Here he is making his face.

Making Tube Creatures

Sunday, September 6th, 2009

One of the activities I did with Desmond was making creatures out of toilet paper tubes. We started off by coloring the tubes, we then glued pompoms on them. I then gave them pipe cleaner arms, I did this step since it involved cutting, which Desmond can’t do yet and knotting the pipe cleaner. We then glued eyes onto the creatures. Desmond really enjoyed this craft, he also enjoyed destroying the creatures as well after we were done. We will probably do this one again when I have some more toilet paper tubes.
