Eloise eating

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Here is a bunch of pictures of Eloise eating various different solid foods. I figured it was easiest to put them all in one post rather then making 3 separate posts.

First off here she is at my in-laws eating stirfry.

Here she is eating pancakes when we did breakfast as dinner.

And finally here she is eating avocado.

Making cupcakes

Monday, October 12th, 2009

So on Yom Kipper, I am just such a great Jew, I did an activity with Desmond. We made cupcakes. He really loves helping with this. He was okay at putting the cupcake papers in the muffin tins, he loved pouring the water into the mix and he liked mixing, he wasn’t quite up to cracking eggs yet though and I mixed in the butter because it was hot since I had melted it in the microwave. He also loved trying to frost them when they were done and cool and he really really really liked putting sprinkles on them, by the handful. So here is Desmond making cupcakes.

Stringing Beads

Monday, October 12th, 2009

Here are a couple of pictures from a few weeks ago of Desmond stringing his beads. He is really enjoying this activity right now, it keeps him entertained for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, and he can do it all by himself at this point in time.

Sometimes the toddler amazes me

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

So last night we were at Target and Desmond was up ahead of us a bit, he stopped at a end cap display and picked up a decoration type thing, that was a wooden word. He then turned to me and Dan and said, “family” we looked at the wooden word and yep it did say family. I swear the child can read, but he just never shows it except in times like that, randomly.

Then this afternoon, he is nursing before his nap and I tell him 5 minutes more, he pops off looks at me and says, “times 2 is 10.” and goes back to nursing. Seriously when did the child learn to multiply? I wasn’t actually aware he knew how much 10 was yet, but he apparently knows 5 times 2 is 10.

On amazing Eloise stories, since it seems unfair to leave her out, she looked at her doll the other day and said “hi doll.” I think I may be surrounded by smart children and I’m not sure I like it!

At the playground

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

We went to the playground again last week. Desmond had a lot of fun running around and Eloise got to go down the slides and play on the equipment too, which she enjoyed, she is still a bit small though.

Mischief Maker

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Desmond loves to make mischief, a couple of weeks ago we hear him say “Tah Dah” and look over at him to see the entire sofa now has a nice brown marker finish to it. He was also nice enough to color himself in with marker as well. I didn’t actually realize he still had the marker in this picture, I had thought he had dropped it before he said “tah dah!”

Eloise stands a lot

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Eloise loves to stand, she loves to pull up into a stand and just stay there, she will eventually whine because she isn’t sure how to get down, but then once down she will climb right back up into a stand. I was really hoping for a slower mover this time, it was a foolish wish I guess *grin*.

The chocolate war returns!

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Desmond is not a neat eater and when eating chocolate he is a very not neat eater. I believe he won the battle against the chocolate this time, but I am not positive.

Apple Picking

Monday, October 5th, 2009

We went to the pick your own farm on Sunday to pick apples. We figured we’d pick about 20 pounds of apples. 45 pounds later we left with all our apples. Both Desmond and Eloise really enjoyed apple picking, Desmond also enjoyed eating an apple or two, while Eloise enjoyed playing with her apple.

Pittsburgh Children’s Museum

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

We spent the weekend in Pittsburgh for the reception on Saturday. So on Sunday we went to the Children’s Museum on our way home. Both Desmond and Eloise had a great time and it wore them both out so the trip home was a lot nicer then the trip there. They had a nice water play area, a great toddler/infant play area, a slide, an a temporary Bob the Builder exhibit, it ended last weekend actually. Desmond saw the Bob exhibit and started chanting “Bob, Bob!” as he ran towards it. He also met Bob, which he really liked, which makes me happy for Disney, he wasn’t huge on staying still to get his picture taken with Bob, but he liked seeing and meeting Bob. In fact as we were leaving we saw Bob again as he was being led by his handler to the back stage area. Desmond went up and said hi, and then tried to lead him down the hallway telling Bob “come, come.”
