Swimming Swimming Swimming

Monday, December 29th, 2008

So we joined Lifetime Fitness on Christmas Eve. We had been debating joining a fitness club for Desmond for awhile. So we decided to look at the two in the area about a week before Christmas and see what we thought. We loved Lifetime, the pool was wonderful and the child’s area looked decent, though we didn’t get a good look at it. the price however was a bit higher then we wanted to spend. So we looked at the Columbia Association, we had joined Columbia before, so we sort of remembered it. We really liked the guy who gave us a tour, however we were less then impressed by the pool, equipment and child’s area, we did like the price better though.

So we debated, and decided to check out Lifetime again and get a good tour of the child’s area. We went in and saw it again and decided that it was worth it, even if it was a bit more then we really wanted to spend a month. So we joined up. On Saturday and Sunday we took Desmond to the pool to go swimming, the main reason we signed up. He was so happy, he loved playing and swimming in the water, he is fairly good at kicking his legs too, though he needs to work on keeping his mouth closed when going under the water. He had a ton of fun, so it looks like it was a good choice. Maybe next time we go we’ll let him try out the kid’s club as well, though I think he would just be happy if we took him swimming every day or two.

I noticed the only Hanukkah and Christmas pictures…

Monday, December 29th, 2008

I took this year involved Desmond opening present. Yep no Menorah, no hanging with family, just the child opening presents. I will post them though, just because he is cute opening presents. It is one of his new favorite things to do, to bad that Hanukkah and Christmas are over so he has to wait till his birthday to open any more. I’d say he was a poor deprived child, but I saw what he got as his presents, in fact I bought him most of them, so I can’t because he isn’t.

Life with a Toddler (or what’s in the oven?)

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

So Desmond loves to open the oven, we have a lock on the lower one, but the upper one’s lock didn’t end up sticking and he broke it. He loves to open the oven and put stuff in it, so we have to be careful to check it before we cook anything.

This evening there were 2 shoes with socks, a plate, a bowl, a plastic dulpo dinosaur egg and a pot holder in the oven. It is interesting to try to figure out how a toddler’s mind works sometimes. Though sometimes it is easier to just shake your head and laugh.

He is now quite good at clicking his tongue to the top of his mouth. Thanks a lot Mom!

A few more frosting pictures

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Here are the last of the frosting pictures. He had quite a bit of fun, and quite a bit of sugar when all was said and done.

I think he wants this to be a daily activity.

Licking the bowls

Desmond wanted to make sure he enjoyed every drop of his frosting.

And here he is enjoying the frosting

Here are some of him enjoying his sugar.

Frosting Cookies

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

So on Saturday I made sugar cookies, and gingerbread cookies and another kind of cookie, but the sugar cookies are the important ones. I figured Desmond could “help” me frost them on Sunday. So our big activity Sunday was feeding the child sugar, I mean having Desmond help me frost cookies. There are a ton of pictures of him helping, so here are the first few, including the few where he actually does frost the cookies rather then eat the frosting.

In the potty!

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

So yesterday, after frosting/eating the frosting of the cookies. We look up and Desmond is playing with his potty. We’ve had it for awhile and leave it out for him to explore so he can get use to it. He decided yesterday to sit in it though and go. I don’t think he is quite ready for potty training though.

Public Service Hanukkah Message!

Sunday, December 21st, 2008

First off Happy Hanukkah! Secondly, when attempting to light a Menorah, make sure that there are either matches or a lighter in the house. Otherwise, you won’t be able to light it.
