We have a name!

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Sullivan Mohan Singhal. We plan to call him Sully. It wasn’t actually a name in our top 5 when we got to the hospital, but he is very much a Sully.

Newbie is here!

First the quick stats. No Name Baby Boy, March 29, 2011, 2:32pm. 9 pounds 4 ounces, 22 inches, lots of dark black hair, and dark grey eyes. Born via c-section, both he and I are doing great. Pictures soon.

Now the longer story. I woke yesterday around 5am in labor. I had about 8 contractions in the first 50 minutes or so. I woke up Dan and he called his parents to come watch the small ones. They got to the house around 7:30, we got to the hospital around 7:45, and apparently I looked like I was in extreme active labor. Got up to the labor and delivery ward, and decided to go for an epidural. They were pumping the first bag of saline in me fast and I got the epidural with only 1/3rd a bag in. In fact, they held off on a c-section to get the epidural in me. I was apparently dilated to 10cm when I arrived!

Baby was at station -2, and my water bag was bulging so the midwife popped it. Then we waited. Everyone expected the baby to arrive by around 8:30am. Baby did not want to move down the birth canal. We tried numerous positions, and other things to try to get him to move. My contractions were still strong and steady, at 1 every 2 minutes or so for 1 minute. At 2pm, he was almost to -1 station and not moving. So we decided it was time for the c-section. The fact I had to have another one kind of sucked, but he was not coming.

Baby boy was born via c-section at 2:32pm. It was really nice not having an emergency c-section, I was able to be awake for it since the drugs worked so no general, and I got to see him as soon as he was born. Dan and Baby Boy sat next to me for an hour while they sewed me up, before heading to the nursery to wash baby boy and warm him up after his bath. Apparently I had a lot of scar tissue from my c-section with Desmond, and the 45 minutes they were expecting to spend sewing me up turned into 2 hours, with them having to call in an additional surgeon for help!

Around 4:30pm I made it to the recovery room. Baby came and joined me around 6pm and nursed like a champ, once I got him to latch on! At 6:30 we moved to my room in the maternity ward. Baby roomed in with us and is with me and Dan when Dan is here. Since I had a c-section he does go to the nursery when Dan isn’t here since I can’t take care of him myself yet. He is adorable, and chubby and very snugly. He does not cry much at all, which is nice, and he is nursing well!

He was 2 pounds bigger then Eloise when born! He is great and I hope to post pictures soon, and hopefully we’ll decide on his name soon as well. I will be in the hospital till Saturday most likely, though I may decide to go home on Friday. Everyone is doing great so far, and Eloise and Desmond will be coming to visit and meet him this afternoon.

Eloise’s 2 year old Stats

Monday, March 14th, 2011

So being a evil Mom I scheduled Eloise’s 2 year appointment on her birthday, so poor baby had to get a shot on her birthday. I know really mean, I actually didn’t think about it when I was scheduling it. She did great with her shot though, didn’t even notice it, maybe because she was eating a starburst at the time.

Anyways onto her statistics. Eloise is now 20 pounds 9 ounces so she gained slightly over 1 pound in 6 months yay! It puts her at under the 5th percentile for weight, but keeps her on her own curve, so the doctor didn’t say anything about it. She is 32 1/4 inches, so she grew 2 1/8th inches since 18 months. It keeps her in the 12th percentile for height, but still on the same curve so she is fine there too. She still has a 50th percentile head as well, so that stayed the same as well. She still hasn’t tripled her birth weight, but she should by 3 at least.

It was a good appointment and she is doing great. We don’t need to monitor anything, I did forget to ask about allergy testing, but she actually seems to be doing better with milk products again, so I am not too worried about it. If I remember I’ll ask next time we go. She had a great appointment and while tiny is growing and following her own growth curve. Oh and I can finally say she is extended rear-facing at least in her main car seat, since she hit 20 pounds!

At birth 7 pounds 5 ounces and 19 3/4th inches
At 1 month 8 pounds 8 ounces and 20 3/4 inches
At 2 months 10 pounds 4 ounces and 22 1/2 inches
At 4 months 12 pounds 14.5 ounces and 24 inches
At 6 months 15 pounds 4 ounces and 25 1/2 inches
At 9 months 16 pounds 12 ounces and 26 3/4 inches
At 12 months 17 pound 15.5 ounces and 28 inches
At 15 months 18 pounds 4 ounces and 29 3/4 inches
At 18 months 19 pounds 6 ounces and 30 1/8 inches
At 2 years old 20 pounds 9 ounces and 32 1/4 inches

2 and 4 year old pictures

Saturday, March 5th, 2011

So on Tuesday Dan was home from work because we had Desmond’s IEP for speech services. Since he was home I decided to do Eloise and Desmond’s 2 and 4 year pictures and get one last family picture before newbie arrives. So we went to the picture studio. The family picture took forever, since the two small ones would not cooperate at the same time, and the pictures of the two of them together took even longer, I am so looking forward to trying to get one of all 3 of them in a month. On the plus side I got a ton of very cute individual pictures of my almost 2 and almost 4 year old. So here are a few of the pictures, there were more that came out cute as well, but here are a few of them at least.

First the family picture

Desmond hug, kissing and choking Eloise all at once!

Desmond and Eloise playing chase, they enjoyed playing chase rather then posing!

Them lying heads together, I love this pose, I also love Eloise’s expression which appears to be, “I will kill you if you keep making me do this!”

Eloise sitting on Desmond, one of the best group pictures, even if Eloise isn’t smiling.

Eloise sitting on Desmond, one of the outtakes.

Here are a few of the solo Desmond pictures. I really like these, they came out great.

I love this one best of him I think

And here are Eloise’s solo pictures. I love this first one, it is showing off her stubbornness. I will sit, but you can’t make me look happy!

This one is just cute

Eloise lying down, I like this one she got tired I guess, but it made a cute picture.
