Conversations with Eloise

Thursday, February 23rd, 2012

So last night Eloise was sitting at the table talking and she said: “I’m going to be 3 on my birthday, and Desmond will be 5 and Sully Bear will be 1.” She then turned and pointed to me, “And you will be old!”

To which my only thought was, thanks kid. She then continued on, “And Daddy will be 42.”

To which I responded, “No Daddy will be 35 on his birthday.”

“Okay, Daddy will be 45.”

Sword Fighting with a foam noodle. Yes my 10 month old likes to sword fight, you can so tell he is a child with at least one older sibling.

10 Months Old

Sunday, January 29th, 2012

Today you are 10 months old. You have gone from a tiny little baby to an almost toddler. You still like to snuggle, when you sleep, otherwise you want to be on the move! You love following your big brother and sister around and trying to play with their toys. You love food, strawberries, pretzels, cucumbers, broccoli, pasta and more. You will eat everything, and throw what you don’t want on the floor for puppy!

You have 10 teeth, and more coming in. You can stand by yourself for up to a minute, and can even stand up without support (though you refuse to let me get a picture of you standing without support). You have taken a few independent steps between thing with no support. You love to stand and cruise. You are a very fast crawler, and can get into anything. You love to climb. You sword fight, and play with cars, and my little ponies. You want your own sleeping bag like your big brother and sister. You can talk and say lots of words, you rarely do, since you don’t need to most of the time, but we’ve caught you saying 2 and 3 word sentences occasionally, though normally you just point and grab what you want. You are getting so big. It is hard to believe that in 2 short months you will be 1.

You have gone from this:

To this:

In 10 short months. Happy 10 months Sully Bear!

The Jewelry Box

Friday, January 20th, 2012

For Christmas we got Eloise a bunch of bracelets and necklaces since she has been asking for them. However we didn’t get her anywhere to put them, so they along with the necklaces she has been making from beads keep getting stored in her sleeping bag, which isn’t the best place to store them. So when I was out shopping with a friend last week, she mentioned she wanted to get a jewelry box for her daughter (her twins and Eloise are in preschool together), and I decided that was a wonderful idea. I also picked Eloise up some more jewelry because I found some cute heart stuff in the valentine section of Target.

We looked around Target and didn’t see anything that would really work, but since we were going to stop at Michaels it wasn’t a major deal. Once we got to Michaels we looked around, the employee suggested some cute boxes, but they were a bit more then either of us were willing to spend on a 3 year old for a jewelry box. We headed over to the kid craft section and found some adorable plastic heart boxes, that were inexpensive and would work perfectly. So we each picked one up. We also found some cute wooden ones, that would have to be painted and such to be used, and decided that would end up a Mommy craft rather then a kid craft, so the plastic hearts we had found first were a much better choice.

Anyways after a great morning out, we both headed back to pick up our small people from preschool. After picking up the small ones we both headed home to our respective houses. Once we got home, Eloise noticed her dress up pink/purple dress with black lace hanging up in the kitchen and decided she wanted to wear it. Seeing no reason not to let her, she changed from her school clothes into it. I then gave her her new jewelry box and jewelry and found her other jewelry at the bottom of her sleeping bag and put it in the box as well.

I then took a few gorgeous pictures of her playing with it. So here she is all dressed up in her dress and jewelry looking through her jewelry box.

Ages

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

So Desmond is learning about a lot of different things through preschool and life. And he wants to be a lot of things. So I always get asked in the car how old he has to be to be xyz. It is fun trying to figure out an age he can be to be some of these things, but here is a list of the age you have to be to do or be the following.

Drive: 16
Be an Army Man: 18
Be a Soldier (you know the ones that fight the Maccabees not a current day one): 18
Be a Maccabee (yes we have a bit of a obsession going with the Maccabees right now, it is all the rage in his preschool class): 18
Be a Knight in Shining Armor: 21
Be a Pirate: 21
Be a Ghost Buster: At least 25 since you really need a PHD to be a Ghost Buster

In other news Desmond’s birthday list includes him wanting the following costumes: A Knight, A Maccabee, A Ghost Buster, A Pirate, a Soldier, and an Army Man.
