Happy first birthday baby boy!
I’ll post pictures from his party when we get home.
Wow that went fast. It is really hard to believe that I was in labor with him at this time last year. The year has gone so fast. I find it difficult to believe how fast he’s grown in only year. He went from a baby who was 7 pounds 14 ounces and 21 inches to a toddler who is around 24 pounds and 31 inches (not positive on measurements since we don’t see the doctor till the 14th).
He has gone from a baby that slept, ate and pooped (and peed) to a little boy who eats, sleeps, poops (and pees), but also plays by himself, walks, chases the dog, talks, manipulates his environment to meet his needs (such as moving his walker to the chair and using it to climb up), claps, laughs, shares his toys and food (if we want it or not), and flirts with everyone he sees. It is just weird to see all these changes in him in one year. He is growing up so fast, and it is really strange since a year seems a lot longer then it really is.
In picture form he has gone from this:
to this:
In the blink of an eye. We have his birthday party tomorrow, I am sure it will be lots of fun. I’ll post pictures from it when I get them up. It is just weird to think that my little baby is already 1 (or will be in under 12 hours).
On Sunday we went to the photo place and got Desmond’s one year photos done. We’ve been going there since he was a newborn. Apparently there has been a recent management change and our photographer (yes we had a photographer who always took his pictures) is gone. We like his one year pictures, but are thinking that for his 18 months photos we might try the other place in the mall, not sure yet, but I think we likely will.
Anyways here are Desmond’s one year pictures the Sunday before he turns 1 (he is 1 this Saturday eek!).
Or wow I’m 30? I don’t feel grown up!
My birthday was last Wednesday. I turned 30, I don’t feel 30, but that doesn’t really mean anything. Getting older is also good since the alternative is bad. I had a good birthday, we went on a walk and then out to dinner, it was nice. I got a couple of gifts which I like and my parents sent me flowers. Other then that it was a pretty basic day, unlike this coming Saturday when we will have a party for the small one as he turns 1. Now that makes me feel old. Where did the past year go?
The last step Desmond really needed to be an independent walker was the ability to get up from the middle of the floor rather then having to crawl over to something to pull himself up. He has officially hit that milestone now, he can get up to standing from the middle of the floor. We figured he would figure it out soon since he’s been able to bend down and pick something up for awhile now. It seems to have clicked though and he’s been doing it all morning/afternoon now.
In other cute Desmond stuff, he brings me a clean diaper when he wants to be changed about 80% of the time now, which is nice.
Here are a couple of close up pictures I took of Desmond while we were out today. I think they came out nice. He looks like such a little toddler now instead of a baby. Where has time gone, he’ll be 1 in 2 weeks (eek!).
Here are a couple of cute pictures of Desmond clapping while we were at the soccer fields.
This is my favorite picture of him clapping, it is just a great picture.
Here are a couple of pictures from the soccer fields. One of them is Desmond’s on my back in a carrier (which is how we brought him to the fields). The other three are him sitting in the fields.
Here are a couple of pictures of Desmond walking on the soccer fields. He needs help because he isn’t use to his new shoes yet (you can see them in the pictures), he also isn’t quite sure of the walking on the ground thing yet either. He had fun walking with me and Dan though.
He is losing his shoe in this picture, right after it was taken he kept walking and the shoe stayed behind.
Today was a gorgeous day out and I wanted to get some pictures of K-line and Desmond together so we took them out to the soccer field. We got a couple of very cute pictures of them together, and a bunch more that weren’t so great. Here the 5 that I liked out of the 200 we took.
