We went to the pick your own farm on Sunday to pick apples. We figured we’d pick about 20 pounds of apples. 45 pounds later we left with all our apples. Both Desmond and Eloise really enjoyed apple picking, Desmond also enjoyed eating an apple or two, while Eloise enjoyed playing with her apple.
We spent the weekend in Pittsburgh for the reception on Saturday. So on Sunday we went to the Children’s Museum on our way home. Both Desmond and Eloise had a great time and it wore them both out so the trip home was a lot nicer then the trip there. They had a nice water play area, a great toddler/infant play area, a slide, an a temporary Bob the Builder exhibit, it ended last weekend actually. Desmond saw the Bob exhibit and started chanting “Bob, Bob!” as he ran towards it. He also met Bob, which he really liked, which makes me happy for Disney, he wasn’t huge on staying still to get his picture taken with Bob, but he liked seeing and meeting Bob. In fact as we were leaving we saw Bob again as he was being led by his handler to the back stage area. Desmond went up and said hi, and then tried to lead him down the hallway telling Bob “come, come.”
On the 19th, Talk Like a Pirate Day and Rosh Hashana, we went to the wedding reception of one of Dan’s good friends in Pittsburgh. It was pirate themed, since it was on talk like a pirate day. Dan and I didn’t dress up, but we did dress up the small ones. Desmond took off his costume fairly quickly, but we do have some pictures of him in it. Anyways here are all my pictures from the reception.
Here are two videos of Eloise from yesterday. The first one is of her hands and knees crawling, the second one is her standing up using the sofa. Desmond provides a narration in the second video.
When my parents were here we went to the zoo with Desmond and Eloise. My cousin Sandra was planning on coming as well, but she had a cat on her roof. We had a lot of fun while there, even if we did skip the giant panda exhibit. Desmond loved the gorilla house, he had a ton of fun watching the gorillas and orangutans. One of the orangutans was playing hide and seek which kept Desmond entertained for awhile. Eloise really liked the elephants, though I don’t have any pictures of it since Dan had the camera at the time. Here are some of the pictures from our visit.
Here is Desmond doing one of his favorite activities again, he is painting. These pictures are from two different days, he really enjoys painting a lot, he loves squirting the paint into the container and using the paint brushes.
Another art project I’ve been doing with Desmond is watercolors. Since he liked painting so much I decided it was worth a shot. He loves playing with the watercolor pads, and occasionally painting on the paper, he is more into playing with the pads though. He really does enjoy it and I figure if it keeps him entertained and isn’t too messy it works for me. Here he is using watercolors.
My parents came up to visit about 2 weeks ago, and my Mom brought Desmond up some stringing beads. He really likes them. He had a little trouble at first getting them on the string, but he is an expert now and likes putting the beads on the string. So here he is stringing some beads.
