New Job for Dan

September 13th, 2006

So Dan has been on and off looking for a new job for the past 2 months or so. He hasn’t been extremely active, but he has been semi-looking because he is ready for a change. His current job isn’t challenging him anymore and he isn’t really enjoying it all that much. So yesterday he had an interview. He came home and said it had gone well, he liked the guy interviewing him (who would be his boss) and the interviewer said he would have a decission by Monday. The one major downside is it is in downtown DC, which means an hour and a half commute both ways more or less, which sucks.

So today Dan gets a call seems they liked him a lot. In fact it seems they have made a verbal offer and want to have a written offer to him by Friday and him starting work there by the 2nd of October. Okay now that is a wee bit faster then we were really expecting an answer. We were figuring we would discuss it a few days and then make a decission. Especially because the commute is nasty. Instead we have about 3 hours to decide. So he has decided yes, it was what we were likely to decide anyways. The raise he is getting will be really nice, he likes his new boss and the group he will be in, and it is new and interesting work for him. So it looks like next month Dan will be going into a new office to work and enjoying his new job and commute.

Baby Pictures

September 12th, 2006

Well I had my sonogram/ultrasound on Friday. It went well. The tech wasn’t able to check my whole uterus, because I apparently have a tilted uterus and it would hurt a lot if she did, so she didn’t. Which means there could be another one hiding in there somewhere. At the moment we only have one blob though. And we got pictures!

It mainly looks like a blob, so at the moment I am calling it baby blob. Or just the Blob! The first one is the best defined and you can see arms legs and the head, the rest are more blob like. Anyways if you can’t see the whole thing try the link, but here are the pictures in all their glory (fyi, there is a bit of lint and such on them because I forgot to clean off the screen of the scanner first).

General and Baby Stuff

September 5th, 2006

Well not really that much new babywise. I mean, I have my first ultrasound/sonogram on Friday which will be neat, will get to see the baby, though it is too early for learning the sex etc. Other then that not really much else happening babywise.

We did go see my inlaws this weekend on Sunday, which was nice, we had their traditional labor day cookout, lots of food a couple of extra people, nice time talking with them.

Other then that we have had lots of rain, but apparently it is localized heavy rain, since everyone else is having rain but the really light kind, not the nasty heavy kind, so we are apparently the only ones getting the nasty heavy rain. On the plus side we were in drought again so the rain is nice for helping push us out of drought conditions.

We have the contractor coming on either the 21st or 28th to fix the random small stuff in the house that needs doing. Once we actually sign on the home loan we’ll be calling a landscaper to fix our yard. Dan still needs to finish the baby’s bedroom, but because of the rain didn’t do it this weekend. We did however go through bunches of clothes and get rid of about half of them which is good since we weren’t wearing them anyways.

Nothing much else going on here, I’m heading to Hartford Ct on Saturday for my aunt’s birthday party, she is turning 50 (I’m sure she wants my huge readership of like 3 to know that too). It will be nice, we’re using the credits we got from not flying to Disney to fly up there so they aren’t being wasted which is always nice. We’ll fly back Sunday. Nothing new on the job front for Dan though he is planning on sending his resume into the NSA and possibly FBI cybercrime labs, since both do the type of things he is hoping to do.

Morning Sickness, well Lunchtime Sickness

August 30th, 2006

So I was so proud of myself, 8 and a half weeks and no morning sickness yet, other then the all day nausea, but I can deal with that. So I was responding to an email from my mom telling her how everything was going well…

Silly me, it seems baby was not all that happy with the lunch choice of pita and hummus and decided to show their displeasure by removing the contents of my stomach, boy that was fun. Not! So I have now had my first offical morning sickness with actual throwing up, I hope I can avoid it from now on, but somehow, I am thinking it is only going to get worse…

A bit late, but happy 1 year blogging

August 29th, 2006

So I started this blog August 21st 2005. So it has been just over one year. I haven’t been the most consistant blogger, there were a couple of months I didn’t post anything at all. Either way, happy 1 year of blogging to me. Hopefully I’ll do better this year and post a bit more.

We are expecting!

August 29th, 2006

Okay so I’ve known this for a few weeks now. Like 4, and I’ve shared the news with a lot of people, though not everyone. But I figured I would make it truely official and post it in my blog. Dan and I are expecting our first in April. Around April 8th if my dates are right. This is Easter, which is amusing when you realize I was born on Easter, though not April 8th. So my first doctor’s appointment is tomorrow, with the midwife and hopefully we’ll have a bit more information then, but at the moment I am 8 weeks pregnant and enjoying the wonderful feel of nausea all day long (it is such joy).

and did you know it is really hard to get a good picture of a positive pregnancy test, this was the best I got out of like 10 different pictures.

Back from Disney

August 27th, 2006

Well we are home safe and sound. Disney was a lot of fun. I liked Pop Century where we stayed the first night, though it wasn’t that great probably would give it 3 stars. I enjoyed Animal Kingdom Lodge where we stayed the other 10 nights would give it 4 stars. Actually to be fair the La Quinta we stayed at on the way home would also get 4 stars and it was cheaper then both Disney hotels, though a bit smaller then the AKL room, so if Disney had La Quinta on-site I would be happiest there out of the three hotels we stayed at.

The food was good most places we ate though there were some detractors (Flying Fish) and some amazing places (Narcoosees). The rides were fun and the redone PotC was nice, though we did decide we do like Disneyland’s verision better, now that we have been closer in time and all.

Overall it was a lot of fun, though it was a lot of driving there and home, it is nice to be home with the puppy now, so we’ve spent most of today relaxing and grocery shopping so we have food in the house.

Happy 5th Aniversery to Dan and Me!

August 5th, 2006

So at this time 5 years ago, I was in the middle of getting ready for my second wedding cerimony, the Jewish Cerimony, on the 3rd was the Hindu wedding where Dan and I got to play with fire.

Me in my Sari for the Hindu wedding, my inlaws brought it back from India

Dan all Dressed up for the Hindu wedding

Today was the offical wedding though, since it is the one the state recognized. We were married in Richmond Virginia. Nope neither of us lived in Richmond, and neither of our parents lived there either. However, 80% of my mom’s family lives in Richmond and since all of my Dad’s side of the family had to travel for the wedding anyways, we decided it was easiest to have it in Richmond. So at this time 5 years ago, I was getting ready for the wedding in the hot outside August sun. Where all the groomsmen were in gorgeous hot wool tuxes (sorry guys didn’t realize they were wool or that it would be 90+ degrees).

Anyways it has been 5 years married now, and we’re still together and happy. So Happy Aniversery to us! We’re going to the Melting Pot tonight to celebrate, and we’re going to Disney on the 14th as our 5th Aniversery trip since that is where we went on our honeymoon.

Painting is going well

August 1st, 2006

So Dan spent the weekend painting the nursery (what will eventually be the nursery at least) well not the whole weekend. Friday we took Jabby out shopping for her birthday since we had no clue what a 14 year old would want for her birthday, she got a bunch of small stuff she seemed to like. Saturday was game day at Greebo’s and Caylor’s and Jabby’s birthday, so we went over for that played a couple of games, tried our new killer rabbit game it was fun. I also knitted a hat with this round knitting thing, it was kind of cool, but I think I will skip getting one because I know I won’t use it enough to justify it.

So Sunday we started the painting. Went out and picked up the 4 base colors, a light blue for the ceiling, a sky blue for the top 2/3rd of the wall, an orange for the bottom 1/3rd and green for the trim. Atty did the ceiling and one coat of the orange on Sunday. Monday he painted a bunch more, did a second ceiling coat, a second orange coat and the first blue coat. He then did a second blue coat and third orange coat later in the evening. It looks really good. There are a couple of spots that need to be patched up, but overall the colors work really well together. This weekend we’re going to try the stenciling and hope it works. If not we’ll go the easy way and use the border, but the stencil will look way cooler so hopefully it works. Then the room will be done! Yay, then we’ll be able to clear out the dogs room to start working on it. Poor Dan lots of painting for him.

Painting and other stuff

July 26th, 2006

So about a month and a half ago, Dan put wood laminate flooring in the second upstairs bedroom. It still needs a bit of wood stuff to be put in the cracks but overall it is done and looks good. So since that room is empty because of the new floor, we are planning to paint it. So this weekend we went out and looked at paint samples. We are going to go ahead and do the room in the color scheme we want for our future nursery since we don’t want to have to repaint the room in another year or two. So we have a Winnie the Pooh theme semi planned. We aren’t using the pre-done Disney ones because they are a bit too pastel for my tastes, but I think we’ve come up with a good color combo, though we will be using between 5 and 7 different colors based on a couple of various conditions.

I also want to get some pictures for the room. I found a gorgeous one that is exactly what I wanted for the room. It is $700, so we’re waiting till we go to Disney, I am hoping to find something more in the $50 to 100 range, $700 is just a bit more then I’m willing to spend on my future nursery, no matter how perfect the painting.

After that is done we’re going to redo the dog’s room. We are doing it in a finding nemo theme, fortunately for that one we only need 3 or 4 colors of paint which makes it easier (and two of those colors will be the small paint cans). Then we’ll hang up the various nemo pictures we have and rearrange his room so it will look nice.

In other news not much else going on around here. We went to the gamestore the other day and bought a couple new games that all look fun. I’m thinking of going out to get the civ4 expansion later this week, but other then that not much else going on.
