Pumpkin Picking

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

So I am trying to catch up with pictures and stuff while updating the blog. Here are some pictures from when my parents were up right before my Mom’s birthday and my Dad came with us to go pumpkin picking. We actually met some friends there too. Two of the boys in Eloise’s preschool class, plus their little sister, who is around Sully’s age, and their Mom, Dad and Grandmother. We all had a lot of fun, both picking pumpkins before we met up with Eloise’s friends and afterwards when they did the hay maze, and hay ride. It was a really nice day and we got a lot of pumpkins which we then carved which you can see in an earlier post.

First off with the pumpkins:

I love this one

I love this one too!

As you can see everyone had fun.

Halloween a little late

Tuesday, November 8th, 2011

So I have been a bit bad about posting recently. We’ve been busy and Eloise, Sully and Dan were sick for part of October, so I just haven’t really felt like posting much. I have kept up the Wordless Wednesday though. Anyways we had a good Halloween. We went out to the mall the Saturday before Halloween because they were doing trick or treating there, and then we went out Halloween night as well.

We also had a nice little snow storm that Saturday after the trick or treating at the mall. Fortunately we didn’t get much unlike some of my friends in the North. All the snow we got was gone by Sunday, and we avoided the widespread power outages and such. It was kind of cool to have snow in October, even if it wasn’t much.

Anyways we went for a theme this year, Desmond was “Luke Skywalker with a blue lightsaber because the green one broke”, Eloise was “Princess Leia with a pink lightsaber”, and Sully was Yoda. Here are some pictures from the mall and then from Halloween itself. Desmond, Dan and Sully were out for awhile, Eloise lasted about 15 minutes, which was about what I expected.

I love this group shot, what Mom you wanted us to look at you?

Finger painting

We don’t finger paint often here, because it is 5+ minutes of set up, for 5 to 15 minutes of finger painting, depending on the child and then 30 minutes of bath time. It takes less time to just skip the finger painting and go straight to the bath.

At the playground

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

So we went to the playground yesterday. No big shock there, we have been going a lot since it is perfect playground weather right now. Since Dan was home though I took the big camera and got some pictures of Sully, since I could let him down, and someone could still keep an eye on the two bigger ones. Here are some pictures of Eloise and Desmond playing and of Sully exploring the playground.

Our Calendar

Sunday, October 9th, 2011

So Desmond had been trying to figure out what we do each day, and I figured a visual reminder would be useful. Thus came about my plan to make a weekly calendar. I used a variety of things to make it, first I used some color paper I had lying about, I also used various scrapbooking alphabet stickers I had, to make the words and labels needed. I used the computer to print out small activity cards for what we do on various days. I bought 2 big metal boards from IKEA to put up the calendar on. I also bought the bar and 3 small cups to put the various activity cards and date cards in. I also had a laminator to laminate the various pages and activity cards of the calender. I bought some magnetic tape from Amazon, and I had some velcro stick dots lying around that I used as well.

Here is the calendar coming together. First is Desmond hammering in a screw mount for a screw to hold up the metal boards.

Here is Desmond showing off the metal boards now they are up:

Here is Desmond showing off the finished board:

Here is the calendar, sorry about the glare:

Desmond and Eloise have enjoyed putting up the various activity even if they aren’t actually happening on that day. We’ll see how it goes now that it is up and all ready.

Caterpillars

Thursday, October 6th, 2011

So when leaving the playground today we saw a caterpillar. Honestly it was kind of gross looking especially its face. The two bigger small ones though liked it. I had to tell them they could look but not touch, since I remembered caterpillars’ fuzz can be a minor contact poison/irritant. They both liked looking at it and watching it move, so it was a nice for them to see a real very hungry caterpillar that will turn into a beautiful butterfly when it is a big fat caterpillar and builds a cocoon. Here are the small ones watching the caterpillar.

6 months old

6 Months old!

Thursday, September 29th, 2011

Today you are 6 months old, half a year. Wow did that go fast. I remember you being born and seeing you in the operating room while I was still being stitched up. I remember getting to finally hold you in the recovery room, and start nursing, which you took to no problem. I remember you first meeting your brother and sister. It is weird to think that it was 6 months ago when it happened. Now you are crawling and pulling to stand. You like to chew on apple slices, and other easy to hold foods. You are babbling, and you love playing and laughing with your brother and sister.

Happy 6 months Sully Bear!

You have gone from this:

To this:

In 6 short months!
