6 month appointment

October 10th, 2007

We just got back from Desmond’s 6 month doctor’s appointment. He is doing well, he didn’t grow as much between 4 and 6 months as he has been before that point. We are pretty sure he actually has lost weight since Disney, since he is so active now. Anyways now for the stats:

Weight: 19 pounds 13 ounces (85%)
Height: 27 inches (75%)
Head Circumference: 45cm (85%)

Home again

October 3rd, 2007

We are back from Disney. I’m working on getting pictures uploaded so you can see some of our trip. I’ll also try to do a small trip report here. We had tons of fun. Desmond really had fun trying to eat various character’s noses. We did a ton of rides and ate at a bunch of places. It was a nice vacation, we hope to go back in 2009, though if it takes till 2011 or so it won’t be a huge deal, would be nice to go back before that though.

Heading out for Disney tomorrow

September 19th, 2007

We are heading out for our drive down to Disney World tomorrow. We plan to get there on Saturday. It should be interesting to drive for 15 hours with a baby in the car. We’ve broken the drive up into 3, 5 hour or so sections, one a day, so we’ll see how it goes. I packed the suitcases last night so our clothes are packed, now we just need to do diaper laundry to pack all the diapers, and pack up all the extra “stuff” we’re bringing, cameras, video cameras, books, toys etc. Should be a busy evening getting everything else ready.

I may try to update while we are gone, but probably won’t till we get back on the 1st.

Arrgh Matey Talk like a Pirate!

September 19th, 2007

Avast ye scury mates, it be talk like a pirate day. To celebrate this worthy occasion, I shall drink the rum this evening, in between packing for our Disney trip tomorrow.

Okay so I’m a bloddy landlubber and can’t keep up the pirate talk long. Happy talk like a pirate day all!

We have crawling!

September 10th, 2007

He did it! He has been scootching for awhile, remember the pictures from here? The past week or so he has been getting on his hands and knees and rocking trying to figure out how to go forward.

Last night he was really close to pulling it off. Today he did it, about an hour ago so right around 12:30 he moved forward on his hands and knees. He didn’t go far, but he’s got it. Now we really need to babyproof everything, since I am sure he’ll get faster and better at it really quickly.

I’ll try to get a video of it or pictures up soon, when I can actually catch him doing it.

Labor Day and such

September 4th, 2007

We had a generally quiet labor day. Saturday we ran some errands, picked up a couple of items we needed. Sunday we went to my in-laws for a cookout, it was nice Desmond got to play with his grandparents a lot. K got to run around and get lots of food. So everyone was happy. Monday I played with Desmond a bunch. Dan painted the doors, actually he did that Saturday and Sunday as well. We now have brown doors and a yellow trim, it looks okay, the yellow is a little bright, but it works (we have to use colors approved by our home owners association, thank you planned community or something). Sunday we also moved a bunch of stuff into the attic including Desmond’s swing and bouncy chair, he is growing so fast.

We’re pretty sure he had a growth spurt Saturday night as well, since he was definitely taller on Sunday.

Other then that not much happened it was pretty quiet. Nice and semi-relaxing. The rest of the month is going to be busy, next weekend we’re in Richmond for my cousin’s wedding, my Mom is up the following weekend and then we go to Disney for the last two weekends of the month. So it was nice to have a semi-relaxing weekend.

Website and such

August 29th, 2007

I finally got around to updating my actual website. It hadn’t been updated in years so I figured it was time. Anyways for anyone interested it is just a collection of Desmond pictures and you can find it here.

In other news, we had Gymboree today, it was fun. There were 5 new babies there, and some of them were really babies, like 5 and 7 weeks old. You forget really fast how small newborns really are. They were so cute. The three of us that are normally in the class all decided to move up to level 2. It seemed like it was time, the stuff we did today was definitely more directed towards slightly smaller babies then any of us had. So we’re all going to the Thursday class. It should be fun, at a guess there isn’t a huge difference between level 1 and level 2 Gymboree, but we’ll see. I also signed up for Baby Signs which is starting in October, he’ll have just turned 6 months when the class starts so it should be perfect timing to start that.

Other then that not much else going on here, I’m thinking of restarting learning Latin again.

Aquarium and other stuff

August 27th, 2007

So it’s been a bit busy here the past few weeks. Shocking I know. Dan just switched companies today and is now working for his new company. Nothing much changed in his actual work environment since he is still doing the same job just new company in charge.

This weekend we went out and saw my inlaws, my father in law just had back surgery so we went to their house to visit. Their fridge apparently died and they aren’t planning on getting a new one until my father in law can go out looking with my mother in law. I personally would have problems not having a fridge for 2 weeks, but whatever works for them. My father in law is doing well and seems to be recovering well. They both loved playing with Desmond. We had a nice time there.

We went to a baby wearing expo before we went to their house, it was nice. We tried on a carrier I’m interested in. It fits well, but doesn’t seem like a big change from our Mei Tei so we decided to wait before buying it. We may get one later on though.

Sunday we ran a bunch of errands. We are looking for a chair for Desmond to sit in, in the living room. We used his bouncer, but he has outgrown it and it doesn’t look safe anymore. So we’re looking for something to replace it with. Unfortuantely there aren’t many options. We found one, but the only places that sells them are in England and Europe, which makes shipping fairly expensive, and we would like to see it before we buy it. Oh well, we’ll probably waffle long enough that he is sitting before we do anything and just get him a toddler sized arm chair.

Today Desmond and I went to the Aquarium and met some nice Moms and children from our baby wearing group. It was fun. We got there late, but found them after the dolphin show anyways, so it worked out. We had fun and went out to lunch afterwards before heading home. It was a fun day, even if I did have to drive in Baltimore.

Other then that not much else going on this week at least. Which is nice, we have Gymboree on Wednesday but nothing else till this weekend when we go visit my inlaws again for their labor day cookout. Though atty will be doing the grilling this year instead of my father in law, Back surgery and all.

If you want to catch up for the past few weeks, check the extended entry.

Desmond growth updates

August 15th, 2007

Okay so Desmond had his 4 month appointment today and is doing well.

At birth he was 7 pounds 14 ounces and 20 3/4 inches
At one months he was 11 pounds and 23 inches
At two months he was 14 pounds and 24 1/2 inches
At four months he is 17 pounds 13 ounces and 26 1/2 inches

He is in the 90% for weight and 90 – 95% for height. He is a big baby boy, he is closer to the size of a 7 or 8 month old then a 4 month old. He is extremely alert as well and did great on the baby assessment page, he has basically filled it out with all yeses except feeding himself, since he doesn’t get food yet, sitting on his own (though he is really close) and standing holding onto something other then Mommy or Daddy.

Go Desmond!

*Edit* I was close on the weight, since 18ish would cover 17 pounds 13 ounces and I was a bit short on the height, I really didn’t think we was quite that tall.
